It’s time to begin planning those late 2021 trips, especially for those who are fully vaccinated and ready to get out and see the world. We came across an insanely cheap flight deal from Charlotte, NC to Hong Kong for as low as $189 round trip on American Airlines.

Yes, this is not a joke.

With any flight deal, keep in mind that dates may be limited and the deal may only be around at that price for 24-48 hours. This deal has dates in October and November for $189, and other months for just over $200 round trip. Either way it’s a steal.

We used the sample date of November 7-15 on Priceline. Most of the date ranges being advertised are for 7-8 nights only. But, you can find shorter through Google Flights.

These are not direct flights, so you may have long layovers in other cities before arriving in Hong Kong. To find a wider range of dates, you can first search in Google Flights, and then plug the date into Priceline to knock a little more off of that price.

American is advertising the deal as a basic economy plus bag fare. This means that your first checked bag and carry on are included in the price. However, you will not be able to select your seat prior to boarding and you will not be able to upgrade the ticket once it is purchased.

For the latest travel restrictions and protocols for US-based travelers going to Hong Kong, visit the Hong Kong Consulate website. As of now you will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test to enter. There are no updates on requirements for fully vaccinated travelers.
