Voters are reeling after the sudden announcement that President Biden is stepping down from the presidential election. Word was sent out on Sunday, July 21 during the evening. While many people are not surprised by the decision, since Biden faced pressure from his political party, the news comes with plenty of complications. This is especially true since the Biden-Harris campaign was underway and the President and VP were already making stops across the country

The presidential election is less than four months away, so the Biden-Harris administration is under much scrutiny due to many divided opinions on the timing of the dropout. Since President Biden is no longer running for re-election, the Democratic Party is re-establishing its nominee for president. With Biden’s quick endorsement of his previous running mate and current Vice President, the whole world watches to see what will happen next. Here is what we know about the situation with the VP and the upcoming campaign.

President Biden’s dropping out as a candidate in the 2024 presidential election may spell trouble for the Democratic Party. Although the Biden-Harris campaign was already in swing, now that Biden has dropped out of the race there will surely be changes going forward. Most of the Democratic Party has expressed support for this momentous decision. Some even call Biden’s decision a “selfless and patriotic act” due to his age and perceived ability to handle the upcoming campaign. With Biden officially surrendering his role to the next president-elect, many people are curious about what will happen next with the current VP of the United States.

A campaign event is scheduled to happen on July 23, which is eerily close to the time of the recent announcement. This campaign event on Tuesday is supposed to be in Milwaukee and has voters curious about the organization of the campaign visit. Shortly after Biden’s announcement was posted on multiple platforms online, he endorsed his VP Kamala Harris. Because of this, many people expect this event to be Kamala Harris’ first official campaign stop. There is immense curiosity about how the event will be conducted. The swift endorsement of Kamala has made it clear that a lot of attention will be focused on her.

All Eyes On The Harris Campaign

Since there have been no changes to Harris’ travel plans, the public can expect her to still make an appearance on Tuesday. The appearance was established when she was running with President Joe Biden as VP. Harris is expected to deliver remarks at the political event, which will set the precedent for her impending campaign.

In the short time that has since passed, Harris established her intentions to run for president and much of the Black community has rallied behind her. Across social media, people are discussing this incredible cultural and historical moment in time. One popular example of this is how an impromptu Zoom call happened on Sunday night. This call had around 40,000 Black women on it and was an event to remember. Special guests like Jenifer Lewis, Luvvie Ajayi, and more graced the call to show their support of Kamala Harris. It was just the beginning of the mobilization taking place as Black women everywhere see the potential for the first Black woman president of the United States.
