Rapper Sexxy Red was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport over the weekend after being in an altercation allegedly including fans and her security.

In clips of the brawl shared by TMZ, Sexxy seemingly wielded a long pole stand while those around her threw hands. Although multiple people were involved in the fight, Sexxy is identified by her red bonnet and matching-colored shoes.

The altercation took place in front of Newark Airport’s Gate C82. Sexxy seemingly didn’t hit anyone with the pole — and she was only briefly caught on camera. As the chaotic and heated moment ensued, the St. Louis native hit the ground and dropped the pole. Then, she quickly got back up with her purse and exited from the camera’s view.

There are no confirmed details regarding what sparked the battle or who the other parties were. The musician and mother of two was reportedly taken to jail on the morning of June 8. Port Authority allegedly claimed Sexxy was arrested for disorderly conduct. Several others allegedly got assault charges, and all injuries were minor.

Ironically, the “Pound Town” rapper’s involvement in the physical altercation was ahead of her hosting gig at the WWE NXT Battleground championship in Las Vegas on June 9. While onstage, the musician celebrated with NXT champion Trick Williams after he beat Ethan Page in the night’s main showdown. Sexxy and cheering crowd members excitedly chanted, “Whoop that trick,” as the winning fighter basked in his moment of glory.

How Did Sexxy Red React?

Sexxy hasn’t given any clarity about the fight or why it started. Instead, the 26-year-old rapper, born Janae Nierah Wherr, posted a video telling her followers that she “just got out.”

Sexxy also shared a text post that said, “To the people that was in that altercation at the airport, please DM me so I can replace [your] phone.”
