Longtime multi-genre musician Lenny Kravitz has an unmatched flair for home design and decor. While many know him for his timeless hits, dating back to his 1989 musical debut, Let Love Rule, the artist’s homes are another aspect of his life where he creates captivating bangers.
The 60-year-old has vested his love of real estate and home design domestically and globally. So far, he’s flexed his eye for design in Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Paris, the Bahamas, and Rio. The funk-infused rockstar has conducted many projects through his creative firm, Kravitz Design, founded in 2003. Through the company, his talent for home design has extended into other ventures, including CB2 collaborations, hotel venue spaces, and nightclubs.
In Flaunt magazine’s recently released issue 192, the musician discussed where his knack for design and imagery stems from. He noted that his love of designing spaces began in childhood.
“I love, I love, I love to create. I love to beautify, [and] I love to create an environment, [and] I love to create a mood,” Kravitz shared. “Ever since I was a child, I think I was very aware of my surroundings and what they were made up of, why a certain surrounding felt a certain way. Going around to my mom’s friends’ apartments, observing the way they were decorated, the way they dressed, and just the whole aesthetic; how furniture and lighting and art altered a space … I just love creating spaces. It’s just another expressive medium, you know.”

Rio
This farmhouse might be one of the artist’s most notable properties over the years. The sprawling estate includes guesthouses, organic fruit and vegetable gardens, a gym, and a soccer field. The musician’s entryway features a stunning transparent plexiglass piano. The main living room boasts a red velvet chair previously owned by Andy Warhol (a late friend of one of Kravitz’s former girlfriends) and a huge portrait of the singer’s mother, actress Roxie Roker.
The home’s primary suite includes a vintage bed frame from the ’60s and a custom copper tub beside it. As with all of Kravitz’s homes, the vibe is hard to encapsulate but distinctly his. Overall, the Rio property feels as if a relaxed chic rocker met a free-spirited rancher.
Bahamas
Kravitz’s Bahamian Airstream trailer in Eleuthera is one of his most beloved homes. In a feature on Oprah’s Master Classfor OWN, he described the trailer as a “cozy, safe womb.” The “Fly Away” artist said, “You feel really free in there,”despite the home’s small square footage.
In a 2020 interview with Men’s Health, the singer showed off the interior of the compact space. The kitchen included a medium-sized fridge, a stove, and a small sink with some counter space. Much of the conversation focused on the plant-based singer’s outdoor garden.
“A great blessing of living here in the Bahamas is that I’m able to grow my own food,” Kravitz shared.
Paris
The “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” singer’s Paris townhouse is an iconic and chic blend of relaxed sophistication. Located in the 16th arrondissement, he purchased the space in the early 2000s. The home is filled with Warhols, a large Basquiat, and, interestingly, a library filled with pairs of James Brown’s boots.
In a 2018 British Vogue interview, Kravitz was reluctant to reduce the home to its number of bedrooms because “They get used for different things…” The outlet noted that he ultimately decided on “eight.”
