From Aug. 1 to Aug. 15, the island of Grenada will present its visitors with its beloved carnival. Spicemas (also known as Spice Mas), is bringing the sweet sounds of calypso and soca music. Thousands of Grenadians and tourists flock to the island every year for the island’s signature event. It’s a cultural festival that features a week’s worth of vibrant and immersive events. Each event is honoring the island’s African, French, British and Caribbean ancestry.
Known for its aromatic spices and organic chocolate, the tri-island destination offers an array of delights. It includes 40 white sandy beaches, 15 enchanting waterfalls, chocolate factories, rum distilleries and over 30 captivating dive sites. World Food & Travel Association named Grenada the world’s first “Culinary Capital.” This Caribbean island names its annual carnival Spicemas. It’s a nod to the island’s production of the most spices per square mile in the Caribbean region.
“The pure energy that reverberates throughout the destination is something we all look forward to experiencing and sharing with the world,” said Petra Roach, the CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority. “It is by far the best expression of carnival, and this year’s will be unforgettable.”
This year’s event will feature new compliments and concepts different from previous years. Travelers can look forward to several events taking place across the island. Each will lead up to Carnival on Monday and Tuesday.
